Mad for Plaid & Shin Sleeves

DIY- Pleather Sleaves off a jacket from here that I turned into shin sleeves

I love these built in combo shirts from Forever 21

Top: Forever 21
Vest: Forever21
Leggings: American Apparel
Shin Sleeves: DIY
Boots: Milagros

It may or may not be obvious that these "Shin Sleeves" are actual sleeves off of a jacket. I like them because they keep my legs warm as a knee high boot would with out the commitment to a boot of that variety. One may drop the shin sleeves at anytime, say if it gets too warm (as bi-polar California forecasts normally do) and just go with the ankle booty for the day. I think thats what I like about the idea of sleeves for your shins. They serve as an accessory as apposed to a necessity which makes them boisterous and fun. This could be the start of something BIG.

Reptile Noir

Top: AIKO
Coat: Vintage
Legging: AIKO
Boots: Milagros

These pictures were taken at the Colorado Lagoon in Long Beach. This location doesn't get enough credit for how beautiful it is. Maybe since the reconstruction of its underwater piping it will get more action during the Summer months. All it really needs is a snack shack and a float rental shop and it will be well on its way!

Plaid Overalls & Red Chiffon

Overalls: Bonjour
Top: Banana Republic
Cardigan: Thrifted
Boots: Magras
Beanie: Young Money Cash Money Billionares
Necklace: Mexico City Vendor

The old stomping grounds... I grew up on Marine Stadium in the little green house which is located directly in the middle of the stadium, right where the flag pole is. This was such a fun place to be a kid. I remember always playing in the sand making sand castles and waiting for my turn to go behind the boat. Till this day I think my favorite smell is diesel gasoline because it reminds me of the Catalina Ski races and boat days. My family would take the boat out almost everyday and on some lucky days we would go to the "hot water" channel. Looking back on it now I can say that I probably wouldn't get in that same channel again due to the fact that it is toxic stew of runoff from the electrical plants there off of Studabaker.

Neutral Tones

Dress: Thrifted
Sweater: Vintage
Boots, Jeffrey Campbell
Necklace: Mexico City Vendor
Bracelet: DIY (Tie and Knot Shoestring)

Neutral tones for a mellow morning. I love that this knitted sweater has bell sleeves. I might just take up knitting so I can bring this seldom silhouette back to life through the reincarnation of tunics and baby-doll dresses.

I was elated when Cynthia founder and Creative Director over at AIKO let me have some of her samples. This brand just oozes "Rock-Star Daughter". The black leather skirt is so lightweight and wearable. I have a feeling it is going to be one of those coveted pieces that I keep in my closet for the rest of my life.
